Juried show with prizes?

Hmmmm....  Thought to ponder.

We are thinking... thinking... thinking...

Imagine a room lined with blank canvas (maybe with a few lines on it), drop-cloths on the floor, various paint buckets and brushes and raincoats (plastic smocks).  You see a prompt and are let loose in the room only for a few minutes to make your mark on this ENORMOUS canvas.

We are thinking of interactive, public art for July's art-walk.  What if we allow the public to come in and paint this gigantic roll of canvas then have the option of purchasing a 1-foot square of it for only $10 so that we can raise funds to offer prizes for a juried art exhibition in September?  What if...???  We think it sounds pretty cool.

The painting would, of course, only happen during Friday's Art-walks and last one month.

Thoughts?

  1. Super-fantastic idea! And very original. People love to be a part of something. I think it will go over very well!
